The Mystery of Divine Increase – Lk. 12:13-21

God Almighty has declared May 2013 as the month if Divine increase. At first glance one would assume God is calling us to a place of material increase. However, this is not the case as we quickly realise from the teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth in Mt. 6:25-34. According to this passage, there is an increase that will attract material increase. This, folks, is the Mystery of Divine Increase. To better understand this mystery, let us attempt a definition of two key words here: 1) Divine – this means to be: “Godlike; heavenly; excellent in the highest degree; extraordinary; apparently above what is human” 2) Increase – means to “become greater in bulk or quantity; to grow; to augment……… to become more in number; to advance in value, or in quality.”

Looking at both definitions, it is obvious that for increase to be Godlike it must come from God – in other words, it must be supernatural and it must be extraordinary and above human comprehension. It is unexplainable from human perspective. This is what Jesus Christ of Nazareth was trying to explain in the text above – “man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” Rather than focusing on material increase, Jesus Christ of Nazareth says: “But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.” If the ungodly who proper in the world increase in riches, why do you think God will measure increase according to the abundance of what we possess? – Cp. Ps.73:12. For the believer, increase must always be measured by our relationship with God Almighty – as everything we desire belongs to HIM and HE gives to those who will truly and wholeheartedly love HIM.

The mystery of Divine Increase talks about increase that comes as a result of worship – Ps. 67:5-6; as a result of righteousness – Ps. 85:10-13; as a result faithfulness – Ps. 115:9-15; as a result of walking worthy of the Lord – Col. 1:10; Increase as a result of divine favour – Exo. 1:7; as a result of perseverance – Job 8:7; as a result of obedience – Gen. 26:1-14; Increase as a result of Divine revelation – Gen. 30:25-43; as a result of giving an uncommon offering – 2Chron. 1:6-12; increase as a result of thanksgiving – Jn. 6:1-13 and more.

God Almighty will only increase what has been committed exclusively to HIM. Focus on HIM alone this season; love HIM with all your heart; soul and mind; let HIM be God in every area of your life and experience God in a whole new dimension. Welcome to the Month of Divine Increase.
